I've been mad about this for days.
The UN's CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) meeting in Doha is again demonstrating -- not unlike the travesty of the Copenhagen climate meetings -- that national sovereignty and economic self-interest routinely trumps global sanity and macroeconomic survival.
The short-term interests of the "economy" of each sovereign nation is becoming the strands of a braid that is rapidly becoming a noose around the neck of our future.
